How to Get a free Instagram link in bio page that does it all?
THE CONTEXT
(Skip this bit if you’re an Insta expert)
Instagram only allows you to have a hyperlink to a website:
from your Instagram profile (also called “bio”),
within Stories using the “Link” sticker,
via Instagram Direct Messages (DMs).
The issue most users face is that Instagram does not hyperlink URLs in a post caption unless you are running paid advertising. This is why you’ll often see Instagram post captions that say “check the link in bio”. On Instagram, “Link in bio” is a call to action (CTA) designed to drive traffic from your profile page to your website or booking system for example.
You’ll also see “Link in bio” on TikTok and Facebook posts.
Insta ‘link in bio’ pages have become increasingly popular as they help your audience find the right link in just one click.
WHY
Why do you need an Instagram bio links page?
People might see a post from days ago popping up in their feed. Having all your most common links under the same page means that your “link in bio” note is always relevant. (People used to constantly swap the URL in their bio. 😵💫)
It simplifies the user’s experience as your followers won’t have to search for your Youtube channel on Google or scroll through your website for upcoming events. Instead, everything you need them to see can be accessed in one click from your bio links page.
It will allow you to track the traffic and clicks you’re getting from your social media activity using Analytics functionalities.
It’s a great way to summarise and promote your key services and cross-promote your other social media accounts.
WHERE
Where can you create your own Instagram Bio Links page?
They are multiple tools these days to create bio links pages.
The most popular is the Australian company: linktr.ee. They introduce themselves as the best #LinkinBio tool and it is used by millions of users in the world. I’ve used linktree myself. It is super easy to set up and does exactly what you expect from it.
The free version gives you access to limited branding and styling of your bio links page and limited analytics data to track your audience’s activity.
Note: They are many other tools similar to Linktr.ee.
The other option is to create a landing page on your existing website that is hidden from your site’s navigation. This will allow you to have full control over the look of your page, its content and also track any activity from that page.
I will show you how to create your own Instagram bio links page on both Squarespace and Wix below.
